What you wear to your Maine brand photoshoot isn’t as simple as grabbing the first thing you see in your closet. You want to find outfits that feel like you, represent your brand, and photograph beautifully year-round so that they still make sense when you’re posting them months later!
And in Maine, seasonality and location matter more than you might expect.
If you’re not sure what to wear for your upcoming Maine brand photoshoot, keep reading!
Maine has very distinct seasons (one of the many reasons I love our state!), but your brand photos should work for you all year. When deciding what to wear to a brand photoshoot in Maine, avoid having all your outfits lean heavily towards one season.
If you’re doing a shoot in the middle of winter, it is absolutely fine to throw in a chunky sweater but don’t limit yourself! You won’t want to post brand photos in July that make you look like you’re ready for the next Nor’easter! Instead, aim to bring:

The outfits you choose for your shoot should showcase your unique personality and represent your brand. Styles come and go (especially in fashion!), so consider reinforcing strategy over hopping on the latest fashion trend. Aim to curate outfits that represent:

Layers add visual interest and flexibility during a brand photoshoot. Blazers, jackets, cardigans, button-downs, and accessories make for easy clothing swaps without having to do full outfit changes!
Whatever the goal of your brand photos may be, it’s most likely not to confuse your audience. If you’re taking outdoor winter photos but are wearing open-toed shoes, people are going to be more focused on your clothing choices than the product you’re selling! Be sure to choose your outfits with intention.
While your outfits should align with your brand and your style, it’s also important to consider how they’ll look in the environment you’re in. Maine’s diverse landscapes are a great opportunity to choose aligned outfits!

Your goal when choosing outfits for your next brand shoot should be “me, but polished.” Elevated basics photograph better than loud trends, and you want your photos to be professional without feeling stiff or costume-y (unless that’s the vibe of your brand, of course!).
I cannot stress this enough: 2–3 outfits that are aligned with your brand are much better than a bunch of chaotic ones! If you’re worried about having variety in your photos, remember that layers, shoes, and accessories will diversify your gallery! Just keep in mind that your accessories should support the outfit, not steal the focus!

If you’re still unsure where to start with choosing your brand shoot outfit, let’s start by eliminating some options.
Try to Avoid:
If you’re uncomfortable during your brand shoot, it will show in the photos. Which brings us to our next point!
Being comfortable during your brand shoot allows you to be fully present. You should be able to move, sit, scooch, laugh, dance, and jump (you never know!) during your brand shoot! If your jeans are too stiff or you’re constantly pulling down your shirt, you won’t be able to truly lean into the brand shoot experience.
Remember: Comfort allows you to be present. When you’re not thinking about your clothes, you show up more confidently — and that’s what makes the photos work!
Your brand shoot outfits shouldn’t compete with you – they should work with you to represent your brand! Choose comfortable, brand-aligned clothes (with a few layers), and you’ll be ready to show up at your next Maine brand photoshoot! Oh, and don’t forget those accessories!
