Savor is a dietitian collective located in Southern Maine. Jenna King (the owner) and I first connected years ago in the dietician world, where I worked as an eating disorder counselor for four years.
In a fun overlap of networks, Jenna hired me several years ago to take photos on location at Savor’s office in Biddeford–early in my branding days! I admire Jenna as a business owner (she is so poised and ambitious!), so when she reached out to me this winter, I was ecstatic to work with her and her team again! (Fun fact: Bri, one of the dietitians, helped me with my Master’s thesis at the University of Maine, where we both earned our degrees!).
Jenna, Bri, Jill, Elizabeth, and Julia form Savor–a dietitian collective where each woman has her own niche. They are the definition of strong female entrepreneurship, and we had so much fun together! Really, I cannot say that enough. They are a cohesive dietitian team who clearly enjoy spending time with one another, which transferred into the shoot. There were lots of laughs, dance parties, and chats during the shoot.
The goal for this shoot was to capture new photos for their website and social media, as well as updated headshots for the team. Jenna knew which photos she liked from her first shoot with me, which was helpful when planning out which shots she wanted to get this time. She still uses some of these original photos, which is amazing and shows that a brand shoot is definitely worth the investment! However, she also recognized the importance of getting updated photos as a lot can change over the years!
Jenna booked the Deluxe Package–which is 3 hours long–so there would be plenty of time to take photos of the entire team. We spent all three hours of the shoot at my studio, Evermore Place.
Group photos are amazing for your business because they capture your team’s energy and your business’s vibe. As a photographer, I’m aware that teams constantly evolve. During team shoots, I always make sure to capture lots of different combos. That way, if someone moves on from your company, you’ll still have plenty of photos to use!
Another thing I always recommend to businesses with teams is to budget two team photoshoots per year–one at the beginning and one at the end. That way, if something does change in your team, you will be able to grab some updated pics for your website and socials!
My shoot with Savor flew by. Three hours may sound like a long time, but when you’re having a blast, the time slips away! The team had two outfits–one dressy and one casual. We really focused on getting photos that showed the powerful female energy of the collective–which meant we got to add a fun modern element with the playful pink backdrop! Oh, and there was confetti, of course!
Jenna and her team at Savor do wonderful dietitian work helping their community. Even though I went full-time with photography in 2024, my work as a dietitian and eating disorder counselor is still a big part of who I am. That’s why I created “Supporting Your Clients: Body Neutral Responses for Photographers.” This freebie gives you tips on how to react when someone brings up self-critical comments about their body. This happens so often, and it’s important (especially as photographers) to say the right things to make our clients feel super comfortable!
