Jen didn’t want the classic branding shots. There were no poses with her laptop or cell phone.
Instead, she wanted the photos to capture the energy of her practice, what it’s like working with her, and her new program, For the Raw.
Jen Cabot is a psychic, spiritual coach, and Reiki master/teacher working out of Cumberland. She helps her clients with major life transitions and healing through spiritual coaching and Reiki.
She needed photos that captured her raw woman energy.
After chatting over email, Jen helped me further visualize her photoshoot goals during our pre-shoot planning call. While video chatting, I learned the intricacies of her business which helped me understand what she wanted to get out of the photoshoot.
During the call, we strategically planned how to use our time together. Jen booked the Deluxe package, which meant we had three hours together. With five outfit changes and two locations, three hours can fly by! To make sure I utilized her time, Jen and I went over possible props, desired poses, and what the overall vibe of the shoot needed to be.
After the video call, I created mood boards based on our conversations and my understanding of her brand. I emailed them to her to review, and she confirmed we were totally aligned! Jen wanted two distinct vibes: a minimalist, timeless feel for the in-studio shoot and an earthy, magical vibe for the outdoor portion.
For the studio portion of her shoot, Jen wanted photos that would show how she’s evolved as a business owner and where she wants to go. The goal was artsy editorial. The photos needed to be real and magnetic–just like Jen.
And Jen brought the woo to the shoot.
As the session progressed, Jen’s genuine self bloomed. Despite having the camera on her, we channeled the energy she wanted to capture, and it felt authentic to her.
When it was time for the outdoor portion of the shoot, the rain almost put a damper on things. But instead, the drizzly weather brought out the earthy magical vibe we were looking for in the second half of the shoot.
Where the indoor photos were meant to be clean and bright, the outdoor photos needed to be earthy, sensual, magnetic, and emotional–all feelings a little dancing in a field can bring out.
And the final results were just that!
In Jen’s words, the photos expressed all sides of who she is and what her business represents: sensual, professional, woo, playful.
Jen put her photos to work the day she received her sneak peaks! Since then, she has consistently used them on her Instagram and incorporated them into her website. She will be able to use them on email lists, blogs, courses, workshops.
